Does anyone remember what was the deal with episode 52 not being licensed?
Was that only for TV broadcast from Cartoon Network?
Will the DVD release have all the episdoes?

So the series will in fact be 52 episodes long. Where did you find out the information about it being a 90 minutes special.

FMA is only slated to be 51 episodes, special or not. The movie will not be released until next year too, and it's a diff. time line (takes place 2 years later).

There's a simple reason "episode 52" wasn't licensed - it doesn't exist.
It is 51 episodes total.
ep 48 - Sep 12
ep 49 - Sep 19
ep 50 - Sep 26
ep 51 - Oct 2 (final)
Episode 51 is airing half an hour earlier than usual (the same way episode 50 of Gundam SEED did) which is why some people are making the incorrect assumption that the final episode is double length.
The August issue of Newtype (Japan) also listed FMA as 51 episodes total.
