The Durarara!! English Dub is pretty uncut!
-Kida saying "Holy Shit~!!!"
-Shizuo telling Izaya he just want to beat the Shit out of him

Ah~! I also love the English Dub voices! I think everyone needs to give Patrick Seitz thanks/credit for doing a amazing job as Simon!

Also, Namie Yagiri is voiced by Bridget Hoffman, and Seiji Yagiri is voiced by David Earnest. Both voice actors did a excellent job playing their roles.

I really love the Durarara!! English Dub! Very Happy

Not bad. Not bad at all. I kinda had my doubts after the Nodame Cantible(?) dub, but now I'm really hearing it altogether. Makes sense.

Kinda hard to imagine Kari Walhgren talking without squeaking, but that's what you usually expect from someone that does kid voices a lot. Still, good Celty.

I'm still hoping they fly down Caitlin Glass and J. Michael Tatum for Miria and Isaac, though.

You never played the first Tales of Symphonia game on the gamecube where Kari Wahlgren played the role of Raine Sage, have you? As that character, she sounds pretty unlike her other higher-pitched roles. She also did the ever-so sexy Emma Frost from the first and unfortunately only season of Wolverine and the X-Men and as Charmcaster from Ben 10: Alien Force/Ultimate Aliens.

Don't you mean "fly up" since they're both technically from Texas?

I never played GameCube, sadly. I know everyone else had at one point, but I have not. Friend in college had one, didn't play it much.

Also, never saw Logan's X-Men (be a nice title, huh?) but I did hear about her being in it along with Steven Jay Blum. Same with Ben 10.

DID hear her in Code Geass as bum bum bum spoiler[Marianne]. That was pretty neat.

Ar Tonelico, it was pretty damn hard to tell what she was doing there. First time I hear her voice, it's sounds so completely out of place. Wasn't a very good voice direction in that game, honestly.

Ah, my bad. I do that all the time. I need to learn to better accommodate geography into my grammar.

LOL! Patric Seitz is perfect as Simon! I was actually cackling while watching his clip. Can't wait for more.

Also very pleased with Crispin Freeman, Johnny Yong Bosch and Kari Wahlgren. They didn't surprise me though, since I expected a really good job from them. No disappointment there.

Everyone else sound fine from the smidgens of dialog sampled here

except...

Mikado's VA sounds like he is actually straining to get his voice that high, which makes the dialog sound a little stiff. So does Bridget Hoffman, which really surprises me. I wonder why she didn't play Namie with a throatier voice. Too high pitched and forced this time around. Usually I like her work. oh well... not this time.

Um...you can wait a few days and watch the whole show! *not helpful, gomen ne*

I only watched the episode one scene because I've never watched the show, and I didn't want spoilers. I've always wondered what all the hype was about, but I figured I'd wait until the dub was released. I'll also jump at every possible chance to hear JYB...doesn't he play Izaya or something? *dunno who that is* The thing about it is that the premise is interesting, but I don't know why it would get this kind of fanbase. And it's not the K-On!-type fandom that makes me twitch. I smell win. It shall not evade me.

Can't wait for next week!

EDIT: Either I didn't know Crispin was in this or I forgot about him because I haven't necessarily been checking up on this. But he's Crispin effing Freeman...yep, I'm watching this~

I never had any intention of checking out Durarara, but the promo got me interested in it, I'll probably check it out on Crunchyroll next week.

Aria reminds me of Nagi, who reminds me of Taiga, who reminds me of Louise, who reminds me of Shana, but I don't quite know why.

AWESOME Looking forward to it. Great voice actors!

I wish all companies would do a video like this for all their dubbed shows. That way I can tell if a series gets good or not and if the voices are okay. Cool

This was the only voice that really bothered me. It's far too obvious that he's trying too hard on the voice. I'm sure he'll sound good during some of the more serious moments, but as average and unassuming student Mikado it's much too forced.

Otherwise the dub sounds great and they really got a lot of major names that people actually know on this project. I guess with the decline of the dub scene it's a little easier to get familiar names attached to a project.

I think the few that bothered me in the clips are the ones that everyone else has already said. (Besides Kida, I thought Kida was a little...iffy, but to be fair it's tough to follow up the Japanese performance there.) JYB surprised me as Izaya--I knew he was a good actor, but Izaya's pretty different from his typical role so I wasn't sure if he was going to pull it off. I'm sorry I doubted him now, the clips sound great.

Also Crispin Freeman as Shizuo is AMAZING!! But I expected that much.

Took the words right out of my mouth, both of you.

Still, I get the feeling his performance will grow on my over time, since everyone involved in the dub has expressed just how much they love being apart of it, so if nothing else, his heart is in it and I believe that will "show through" with his voicing of Mikado. It may just not be evident right now.

I wasn't over-the-moon in love with Bosch's performance as Sasori in the Naruto Shippuden TV series, but hearing his take on Izaya really got me excited. And same kudos across the board for the other actors and actresses. Stellar jobs, people.

True. His performance wasn't anything "ZOMFG HE SUXORZ!!1!1!" worthy, by any stretch of the imagination, but you're right. I don't et love his take on Kida as much as I do with Mamoru Miyano's.

Overall it's much better than I was fearing it was going to be. I rather like the uncensored nature of it, for me that's always a plus in dubs.

Though I'm probably not buying it anytime in the forseeable future; the awkward release method has me turned off. I'll wait till they probably rerelease it in a single set.

Hmm, interesting. I consider myself a dub first / sub second kinda guy, but it is possible that may be changing. I listened to some of that Durarara preview clip and I'm thinking I prefer my memory of the sub. Perhaps its just a case of whichever version you hear first is the one you prefer? I dunno. In any case, I think my pretty much constant exposure to subbed simulcasts (or fansubs when no legitimate stream is available) is starting to take me over to the sub side.
