I have seen the first 'season' of the anime.. And I do know there is a second one that has been airing for a bit of time now... But as I finished season one A question came to mind, as I decided id start the manga for it... How accurate was the anime to the manga, and is there a place I can safely start aside from volume 1 in the manga?

Sorry for what might be a rather noob question ^-^"

[EDIT: Made the thread title more specific. -TK]

I myself have seen the series and have just started to colect the manga. Sadly I have not been able to get the first two volumes and currently have volumes 3, 4, 5 and I got 6 today, I haven't noticed too many differences except a couple things in different order or things that were in the anime but not manga. From what I can tell where the second season starts is in the last "episode" of volume 5.

Ah I see. So I could pick it up (missing some minor details of course) any where from volumes 1-4 ? With the Second Season starting up in the last part of 5? So over all fairly accurate to the manga then- The second season following suit? - I plan to certainly watch it ?

Ok here's how season 1 to season 2 was put out.

Season one up to episode 19 covers the first three volumes or so. (with other chapters mixed in after the Butler tournament )
Season 2 picks right up after episode 19 of season 1 and starts at the Death race training chapter 53-ish

So far there up to around chapter 138 season 2 wise

I do wonder sticking to the manga will make it catch up too quickly. It is not like the fillers in the first season of Hayate were awefull, though it did creat a little problem when the second season started and they even said that the storyline is meant to be only 1 month through, though they mentioned that was a problem.

Ok so basically ( i have been comparing and that seems right on the money for s1) up to 19 its basically loyal then.. it sort of goes off in its own direction. with chapter here and chapter there and filler everywhere.

And the Marathon 50-51 is the opening for season 2? and im now at chapter 58. Is season 2 covering or fillering as its at episode 21 now. it was a bit hard to pick a place to start the manga so I chose start of volume 4 hopefully I didn't miss much but I can always go back

thanks for the posts so far much appreciated ^^

So far season 2 has yet to make a filler episode, and there going though arks with in the span of 2 or 3 episodes. The longest ark being the Hina festival so far.

Just cut everything past episode 19 of season 1, say it never came to be. Because thats in filler land almost all of the time (it was good filler if you ask me )

The time problem is what happened with the anime, as said. The manga is really only set with in half a year of Nagi meeting Hayate. While the first season of the anime decided to drag it out to a full year of time.

It ended up crating a timeline type deal where parts of the manga had to be placed at different times when they did use it. Thats why season 2 starts at episode 19. It's just a "oh we screwed up the first time" move

I know this is like 1 year late but where should I start after finishing season 2?

Volume 14, although it's worth reading the manga from the start just for the stories that never got animated. (They skipped some really good ones.)

It was a valid concern back when Season One aired, but at this point there's a good 150 chapters that haven't been adapted and they couldn't realistically catch up if they wanted too.

The whole set is up to volume 16 i have 1-16 sitting on my shelf and cant wait to get a hold of volume 17 of the manga. I think the anime stayed true to the manga from what i saw.

The second season drops the pop of charter that covers blood and other parts. I also think season 2 sticks very close to the manga while season one had some fillers with the time line.

I was glad to see at the end the charters stats are back to give info on some of the new players. Some day i hope to buy the Dvd's from bandai-ent and hope season two makes it to the states.
