This man knows how it should be done! Well, hopefully, other join in.
Also, kinda like how the site logo with the Chamo-like mascot (?) is a little animated. Even changed positions and looks.

Akamatsu keeps getting AWESOMER AND AWESOMER.
The only way this could get EVEN BETTER is if it allowed for legal fan scanlation.

Chamo-like?
Why would he need to be "like" they're his characters. Assume he holds the copyright on them, not Kodansha. Not that it would be much trouble to negociate he has got e-distro rights for an in print and fairly famous series ok.
Online viewer works ok, ddl does not. Assume that's because it's getting used rather a lot atm.
Did just get some to start but took a lot of attempts.
Timeouts are going to be of issue as well, I assume this is hosted in Japan.

Doujinshi is always good, provided the cast are of the legal age. But I got to hand it to Ken Akamatsu, he knows the likes and possibly dislikes of fans quite well. I always enjoyed his work, although Love Hina was my favorite and remains to be one of two of romantic comedy shows I'll actually watch and actually seriously enjoyed immensely since the first chapter.

Any distinction on whether it's just non-h doujinshi, or all doujinshi? I very much doubt they'd ever hand out copyrights to doujinshi circles/artists, especially when you have hundreds working on books for the same show. And then you're legitimizing all sorts of things that happen in h-doujinshi, like rape, scat, incest, or bestiality.
What I'd hope for is that it allows things that haven't been scanned to go onto the net, so that scanlators can get them and work on them. Or that encourages more groups to start to translate porn, there's never enough of us to cover all of the monthly magazines and events where doujinshi are sold.

I said Chamo-like because I realized it had a short body when it was sleeping. I thought it was Chamo at first when I only saw the head. But now, I just realized that it looks like Chisame's spirits.

Hadn't spotted things like the tail originaly.
it is slightly different.
For those talking about it. Most doujinshi isn't H.
Publishers probaly wouldn't want ascociation with it anyway.

I wish Ken Akamatsu all the luck in the world in making this work.
I downloaded the first two volumes in HQ PDF format before the website went down. They are around 60MB in size. The resolution is pretty good, though I wish the smaller furigana were clearer. There is not a lot a advertising. I expected more, but perhaps Akamatsu-sensei does not wish to alienate his readers.
To see what readers are saying about the site and the Manga search for #jcomi on twitter.

I doubt that the majority of doujinshi aren't hentai related. That's the main driving force behind Comiket's attendance, and where most of the artistic talent goes. If it is just Non-H stuff, then I guess, uh, good for them, but no one really cares.

Incorrect, the majority of doijin are not h (the proportions vary per series, but overall the vast majority are not h). Still trying to track down a page that had a good breakdown of a particular comiket, but if I recall correctly the proportion of h doijin was between 10% and 15%, and mainly biased towards a few series.
::EDIT:: the 'high quality' scans aren't too bad, a little noisy, but are too low resolution to read a lot of the furigana.

Hey spiffy. Just downloaded the high quality vol 1 so I can have something to practice kanji with (at least, I hope Love Hina has furigana).

Honestly, when it comes to language learning, having the furigana a bit hard to read is going to help you.
If it's too easy to read the furigana, your mind will just read those instead of look at the kanji.
But if it takes a bit of focusing to read the furigana, then your brain will look at the kanji first, and that way you'll presumably get better reinforcement for the words you know.

I absolutely loath Love Hina, but I'm glad to see Ken Akamatsu has his head screwed on with a better idea here.
Getting out of print manga online is awesome enough, but throwing in dojinshi works too, makes this site a great one to checkout in the future. I'll look forward to it doing well.
As for your manga though, Ken, I'll pass.

I might look into visiting this place despite not knowing much Japanese, hopefully the international traffic will increase the chances of a US launch...if Kodansha USA will allow it.

Okay then, that probably is likely. But h-doujinshi probably make up 99% of what people would bother to translate into English.
