Solidly #6 of all time for me. Other people may not agree, but I WAS always the fat kid in school whose life was torture. If KuroYukiHime had been there for me, I would have done exactly as Arita-kun would have done. I met the love of my life later on, but she had the same effect on me. If you ever have felt less when compared to others, you need to see this anime. All the characters, the friendships, the love (really) between the different characters, and the search for something more, separates this from many other anime. Loved it so much! Please watch at least the first 7 eps before you decide whether to buy in - I'm sure you will be glad you did! |

My 2nd favorite of all time. Fantastic story telling (spanning 1000 years) and great character development that make you really care about what happens to all of these characters, especially Misuzu. By the end of the series, the true relationship between Misuzu and her mother (Haruka) is really revealed and is one of the most moving moments in any anime I have ever seen. I just wanted to take Misuzu home and adopt her myself. Thanks to ADV for brining this to the U.S. !!! |

#3 of all time for me. An amazing story, mixing elements of drama, intelligent humor (and some slapstick humor), Japanese spirit legends and interpersonal relationships with some self-reflection thrown in. It can be tricky trying to hit "pause" at the right time for some of the worded eye-catches that are in just about every episode, but necessary to get all the thoughts that Araragi is having. It could have ended at episode 12 (the end of the TV run), but the final 3 webisodes were also quite good and resolve the "Tsubasa Cat" arc very well. An overall extremely satisfying series. |

A really enjoyable anime in Japanese, but Leave it to Funimation to miscast most of the main characters - especially Kurumi - she sounds like she's just speaking her lines in the english version. In the japanese version you can hear the "lilt" in her voice that let's you know she just isn't quite right in the head - no trace of it in the english version. Don't get me started on the terrible casting job of Tohka and Origamii - not even close! Well, I;m glad I have the japanese version to listen to. Funimation is just awful at dubbing. |

#15 of all time. Wow - this one hit me out of left field. Thought it would be a typical "enemy with giant mecha tries to take over the earth" (and it was in some cases), but the fight scenes were very secondary to the relationships between Chikane, Himeko and Souma and how their roles change as the series goes on. The last 2 eps are quite high on the drama, but the story's ending is well worth it. It's commendable to see a story where the gender of the characters is really secondary to the feelings that they have for each other. A complex story for today's world. |

#5a of all time. What a fantastic remake of the original. They really flesh out each of the characters, the animation is beautiful (as to be expected from KyoAni and Key) and the story is really amazing. Each of the 5 main female characters is given their chance to shine and the male protagonist (Yuuichi) is played extremely well. You don't know exactly how the story is going to end up until the last few episodes - but what an ending!! I love every part of this anime, each connection the girls have with Yuuichi and how their stories are resolved. I give this a very high recommendation - don't miss it!! |

A very disjointed story told out of chronological order - however, the characters are well done (Kyon is so funny) and by the time you get to the last 2 episodes (actually episodes 5 & 6) you sense that it just had to be done this way to have the impact that it does. I was uncertain if the series was going to be able to sustain my interest because of the confusion caused by the non-chronological sequence of the events, but the humor and stories give you enough to keep you going and pique your interest. The payoff is well worth it by the end of the last episode. Then you go back and start recalling what happened after the "last" episode and how it all fits together with what you now know came after that episode. A truly different and creative series done quite well. My only real concern is that Bandai is planning on releasing the dubbed version in chronological order, which really will lessen the impact of the series for anime fans who have yet to see it, and it also strays from the creator's original intent. On the plus side, I hear that they will also be releasing a subtitle only version as a "Limited Edition" that will present the episodes in the original broadcast order (non-chronological). |

A fantastic series. From a typical high school beginning to something much more. With one main story arc ending just after the halfway point of the series (and thinking it might go downhill a bit) to the main story arc that fills out the last 3 volumes with a perfect combination of action, drama, story telling and emotion. Each one of the last 3 volumes is more intense than the one before, and if the last disk doesn't strike an emotional chord with you, then you just don't like anime. The only thing that stops me from rating this a masterpiece for now is the too happy ending, but maybe after some time has gone by I may rethink that. Still a powerful and moving series that no one should miss. |

My #1 anime of all time. I've seen it 6 times (4 in english, 2 in Japanese) and am simply amazed at the depth of the story, the extremely well done character development, the philisophical questions that are raised and the interpersonal relationships. You really can forget that this show starts out as giant fighting mecha - it's what they represent that is amazing. And the subterfuge that's constantly going on really keeps you wondering who's side anyone is on. I know there are people out there who hate it for some of these same reasons, but I love it. |

#4 of all time. Homura Akemi is one of the best and most tragic characters of all time. I wish I could say I would have done the same, but her relationship with Madoka is one of the best I have ever seen. If ep 11 does not amaze/shock and leave you on the verge of tears, I don;t know what will. I love this anime so much it hurts. I thought it was going in a different direction, but when they reveal what is really going on, ugh - it is so amazing! It had been a long time since an anime had done that to me after I have seen so many anime (200+) - even though this is a relatively "short" (12 eps) series. Just goes to show, if it's done right, a show can be awesome regardless of the length. |

My #7 favorite anime. I still like the Japanese title better (Kimi Ga Nomozu Eien). The story quickly takes a detour from what you expect. It's a "real life" anime that will tug at your heart strings by the end and is executed perfectly. Only complaint was that it was a little too much of a happy ending - but that's really a minor thing. A true must see for "slice of life" anme fans. The english dub doesn't have quite the emotional impact that the orginal Japanese dub does, and the translation/ADR script (as is typical for Funimation), while trying to "americanize" the anime, changes some very important scenes that did not need to be changed, and lessens the emotional impact further. It's still very good in English, just not as good as the Japanese dub. |

#8 of all time. I understand many people feel many different ways about this. I can really identify with the main character (Makoto) and only hope I could have made better decisions so that i would not have hurt anyone. I have played the game and watched the anime. Due to the restrictions on an anime, you can only show so many outcomes. I still have deep emotions on this as I cannot say 100% what I would have done if put in a similar situation at that age, but hoped I would have done better. I do know I would have picked Sekai (in my mind, I married her - thanks baby!), but I would have tried to lessen the blow or help any other girls I would have led on unintentionally. Because of the emotions this brings up in me, I must rate this a Masterpiece, as this is what an anime means to me, personally, in my opinion. Very powerful and not everyone's cup of tea, but certainly will make you think about your decisions as a high school teenager if you were put in the same place. |

An extremely enjoyable series. It has a different kind of story than most anime, which is what intigued me in the first place. It teases you with the possibilty of turning into another typical high school love triangle, but throws a little more thought into it and goes in directions you don;t usually expect. It constantly keeps you interested through a combination of action, drama, flashbacks and mostly just great storytelling. Plus, you care for just about all the characters - which is a nice touch. Both the english and japanese VA's did a wonderful job with this. The only thing that keeps me from rating this a masterpiece right now was that it was too much of a happy ending, but the ending may grow on me in time. Definitely a must see for any fan of anime. |

I had enjoyed this story so much through the 1st half of the series, then it got a bit wierd in the middle (and that's saying something when you consider having daughters of gods and demons as central characters in an anime), then the ending lacked any real punch. I was a bit dissapointed from what I started out expecting. |

A strong series that pulls you into a dark adult world. The two main protaganists are very good, but after awhile it just seems to devolve into Saiga continually rescuing Kagura over and over from perilous situations. The main villian, Suitengu, is far more interesting and ends up carrying the last half of the series. Finding out his background story, motives and eventual plan is extremely interesting and becomes somewhat sympathetic by the end of the series. Chris Ayers, who voices Suitengu, absolutely pwns the last two volumes. |

I feel that this anime was meant for me and my wife. I would have done anything to save her - in the real or virtual world. We both like RPG's so it held a special place for us, because she is as strong and tough as Asuna. I wish I was more like Kirito, but probably am not quite that strong - unless my beloved's welfare is at stake - then watch out! Seriously - a great story, from beginning to end. I felt so fulfilled after watching this, I can't help but make it a masterpiece! |

Beautifully drawn and methodical in its story telling, this series had all the makings of something special. However, by the time you get to the last 6 eps or so, you wish they would just hurry up and get to the point. So much time is spent on the background that they run out of time to get the end of the story and it feels rushed. The last episode is absolutely a letdown with one of those "I will pursue you to the end of time" scenes that resolves nothing and leaves you with an empty feeling inside. You end up asking yourself "I waited all this time for that?". It was pretty though. |

My #7 favorite anime. This series is awesome. The storytelling is great, the different kingdoms they visit and how it changes the characters combined with the numerous other interesting characters that you are introduced to (and still care about by the end) make this a must see for any anime fan. |

This was one that got me back into anime after a long layoff. Therefore it will always hold a special place for me. It was also the first anime my wife was exposed to (and started her descent into the anime world). Good story and pretty good animation for the time. |

Wow. Alternatingly disturbing and violent, then cute and funny at times. An extremely complex story told very well. The fact that the characters look like your typical high school/grade school students makes the disturbing moments REALLY disturbing. But. if you find yourself interested in the story, you will find you cannot stop watching it. The story compels you to watch the next episode as soon as possible in the hopes of figuring out what the heck is going on around here. This is definitely not for kids (The rating should be TV-MA for the amount of violence, psychological terror and torture - mental and physical - that goes on throughout the series). It is even more disturbing than Elfen Lied - which I found quite disturbing. The 1st volume of the English dub is just good (Rena's voice is just not right), but the story is just as amazing as before - so I'll give it a very good. |

Very good anime. The story is a bit hard to follow at the beginning as they try to locate the missing Hatsumi (Eve), but you eventually catch up if you hold on through the first 5 eps. I was very annoyed with Eve by the end of the series and felt tremendous sympathy for Hatsuki, who has been chasing her across worlds just to see her again only to be dissapointed. |
