Aria - The Natural (TV) |

Comedy and romance are two elements that are usually used to create the "warm" feeling of slice of life shows like this; without them, the plot tends to lack substance and all of that "warmness" ends up as "boring". That said, the lack of a real plot is probably what made a lot of people treat this show like a masterpiece. |

A real romance about real people; admittedly, there was nothing groudbreaking, but it did everything that it should have to create the bittersweet feeling of every good love story. Best shoujo/romance I've seen next to Honey and Clover. |

D.C. II: Da Capo II (TV) |
Very good |
Another great addition to an already great franchise; on the downside, it seemed to suffer from To Heart syndrome, aka spending over half the series on the obligatory "robot girl", thus covering the same common-sense philosophy time and time again that's really irrelevant in a dating sim. It would be somewhat pointless to toss romance into Ghost in the Shell, no? |

Noein - to your other self (TV) |
Excellent |
Highly underrated. Once you get over the unusual animation and seemingly cliche plot, you'll see Noein as the deep and thought-provoking sci-fi anime that it really is. |
Noir (TV) |
Very good |
|
Now and Then, Here and There (TV) |
Decent |
It was an interesting perspective on a post-apocalyptic world, and clearly has potential, but somehow it failed to drag much emotion out of me; for that, I blame the walking mass of cliche carefree idealistic energy known as Shuzo. |
Oh My Goddess! (OAV) |
So-so |
|
Otaku no Video (OAV) |
Good |
Nothing particularly funny or otherwise worthy of note, but it's a short, entertaining adventure nonetheless for the otaku at heart. After all, who can honestly say they never had a moment when they felt like becoming the legendary OTAKING? |
Ouran High School Host Club (TV) |
Very good |
It's a show about a tomboy-ish girl that ends up working with a group of bishounen, half of which end up in love with her. As a guy that makes a category specifically for VN adaptations (and we know what most of those are like), my saying that this show is actually good means something. |
Pani Poni Dash! (TV) |
Very good |
Once you get over the plethora of references that even a hardcore North American otaku couldn't get (unless you follow Japanese variety shows and 2chan memes), Pani Poni Dash serves up the randomness and hilarity like nothing else. Ichijou Feast FTW! |
Paprika (movie) |

Rurouni Kenshin (TV 1996) |
Very good |
Awesome characters and story, but it's a bit long, the beginning gets repetitive, and everything after the Kyoto arc is filler. If you watch this, though, you MUST watch Samurai X. Easily the best part of the series. |
Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal (OAV) |
Masterpiece |
Easily the best part of the Kenshin universe and a masterpiece for anyone with even a faint interest in anime. |
S-CRY-ed (TV) |

More GAR than most can handle, condensed into 26 eps. That said, I'm not even much of a fan of the genre anyway. |

This one definitely improves over the first season, the characters are more interesting and the story actually moves. More importantly, though, they didn't spend over half the series introducing the girls one at a time in as tedious a manner as possible >_> |
ToHeart2 (TV) |
Decent |
Why did I watch this, you ask? ...I'm not quite sure. |
ToHeart2 (OAV) |

Simply beautiful. For a short half-hour OVA, it pulls you into the story more than some complete series. |
Welcome to the NHK (TV) |
Excellent |
On the outside, it's a parody/comedy about a hikikomori and an otaku who try and overcome their social problems. Start watching, however, and you realize that NHK is nothing short of a masterpiece of psychology, delivering a disturbingly realistic look at the dark side of society; and it doesn't need multiple personalities or twisted antagonists to creep you out. |
