Visual Novel Localization Project “Re: Sharin no Kuni” Fully Funded on Kickstarter After 10 Days
The Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for the official localization of visual novel “Sharin no
Kuni: The Girl Among the Sunflowers”
(https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tokyootakumode/re-sharin-no-kuni-project) has reached
its main funding goal of $80,000, 10 days after being launched.
The development of the fully localized and translated English version of the game will now
move forward, and the game is expected to be released in English in 2017.
In addition to the main goal, the campaign also currently has two stretch goals. The first, set
at $120,000, will allow a PlayStation Vita port of the game to be developed, and the second,
at $145,000, will enable the team to include additional bonus chapters from the fandisc
“Sharin no Kuni, Yuukyuu no Shounenshoujo” in the official localization.
The campaign is open for contributions until midnight (PT) on Dec. 21.
The “Re: Sharin no Kuni” project was created by AKABEiSOFT2, Tokyo Otaku Mode Inc., and Frontwing Co., Ltd. with the goal of creating an official localized version of the visual novel “Sharin no Kuni: The Girl Among the Sunflowers” for English-speaking consumers. In order to make the project possible, a crowdfunding campaign was launched on Kickstarter with a main funding goal of $80,000. This campaign is a relaunch of the first attempt to crowdfund the project, which was canceled in June of 2016 for the purpose of reworking the campaign to make the goals more viable. After making a number of adjustments and improvements based on both internal campaign evaluation as well as fan feedback, the project was relaunched as “Re: Sharin no Kuni.”
“Sharin no Kuni” is a title highly regarded by both visual novel fans in Japan and around the world. Frontwing will oversee the translation, planning, and direction of the localization product, with assistance from AKABEiSOFT2. The Kickstarter campaign along with other promotions and post-campaign reward fulfillment will be handled by Tokyo Otaku Mode. We are proud to be able to offer not only the game itself, but a wide variety of exclusive rewards directly to visual novel fans all across the globe.
