Central America Will Be Represented By Alvaro Manuel Gonzalez Orea In Tokyo, Japan At The Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game World Championship
El Segundo, CA (June 18, 2012) – Duelists from across Central America and the Caribbean converged at Expo Reforma in Juarez, Mexico to play in the Central American World Championship Qualifier (WCQ) for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) presented by Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (Konami). After a full weekend of zealous Dueling, Alvaro Manuel Gonzalez Orea from Mexico, D.F. emerged from the pack and achieved the distinction of representing Central America at the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship taking place on August 11-12 in Tokyo, Japan.
Orea encountered challenge after challenge but was able to masterfully Duel his way to the top time and again to stand triumphant. Orea's biggest match is yet to come as he will represent Central America against some of the best and brightest Duelists the world has to offer at the World Championship.
Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Duelists crowded the Expo Reforma as each of them vied for the title of Champion. Duelists at the top of their game brought Decks that they hoped would either defeat or impede the players that they would be confronting. Round after round, Duelists that didn't bring their “A” game were being defeated and top-performing Duelists were starting to make their mark and eyed the competition they would be facing at the final tables. As the weekend of elite Dueling was coming to an end, it was Orea who was seated across from Ricardo Javier Luna Soria, also from Mexico, D.F., at the Final Round table, each ready to represent the Central America region at the World Championship.
Soria brought his Dino Rabbit Deck to the Final Round expecting a tough match from Orea and his Six Samurai Deck. The play went back and forth and both players proved that they were ready to represent Central America in Tokyo. However, in the end, it was Orea who was able to pull the cards needed to finish the match and become the Central American WCQ Champion. In addition to winning a trip to Tokyo to compete in the 2012 Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship, Orea also received a prize package that included a Super Rare Blood Mefist – Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series Prize Card and a Top Cut WCQ Game Mat.
Alvaro Manuel Gonzalez Orea won't be the only representative from Central America to travel to Japan. Brandon Medrano Palumbo, Mexico, D.F., also achieved the right to represent Central America after winning the Central American Dragon Duel World Championship Qualifier (for Duelists born 1999 or later) deftly outdueling his Dragon Duel opponents with his Macro Rabbit Deck to earn an invite to the first-ever Dragon Duel World Championship on August 11-12. In addition to winning a trip to Tokyo, for him and a guardian, he also receives an amazing prize pack including a complete set of Galactic Overlord and a Super Rare Blood Mefist – Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series Prize Card and a Top Cut Dragon Duel WCQ Game Mat.
