Juarez, Mexico To Host Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game Central American Championship June 16-17th
El Segundo, CA (June 8, 2012)– Duelists from across Mexico and the other Central American countries will descend upon Juarez, Mexico to play in Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc.'s (Konami) Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) Central American Continental World Championship Qualifier (WCQ). Juarez is known as the “gateway to Mexico” and will serve as the gateway to the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship. The top finisher at this tournament will represent Central America at the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship in Tokyo, Japan. In addition, there will be a last chance qualifier for the main and Dragon Duel events on Friday, June 15th.
For Duelists, the event at Expo Reforma in Juarez will be the culmination of a thrilling and hard-fought year of competition, as many will vie for the right to attend the World Championship, but only one will move on.
Duelists will showcase their strategies and refined Decks all weekend, as the elite players in the Central American region play for the grand prize of an expense-paid trip to Japan to face off against the finest Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG players in the world. The quest starts for players with Round One on Saturday but only one player will emerge victorious after the Final Round Sunday. The winner goes to Tokyo, Japan for the World Championship August 11-12, the highest profile Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG event of the year.
Younger Duelists (born 1999 or later) will be featured in their own two-day tournament, the Central American Dragon Duel Championship, taking place the same weekend and location as the Central American WCQ. This is the first time that Dragon Duelists will have their own Championship to compete for a trip to Tokyo, Japan for the inaugural Dragon Duel World Championship. The top young talent in the game will be on display as these Duelists strive to be the first ever Dragon Duel World Champion.
