LOS ANGELES, CA – February 20, 2008 – Video Games Live announces its special guests for the annual Game Developers Conference performance taking place at the Nob Hill Masonic Auditorium on Friday, February 22nd. Created and produced by renowned video game composers Tommy Tallarico and Jack Wall, Video Games Live features music from the most popular video games performed by top orchestras and choirs around the world, combining exclusive video footage and music arrangements, synchronized lighting, solo performers, electronic percussion and unique interactive segments to create an explosive one-of-a-kind entertainment experience. This marks the 3rd year that the Game Developers Conference has proudly presented Video Games Live.
To commemorate the event, Video Games Live is once again ! pulling out all the stops. Video Games Live will be utilizing the legendary Skywalker Symphony Orchestra and Choir which has recorded with the likes of film composing great John Williams. Making a special guest conductor appearance and his live video game conducting debut is award-winning film composer John Debney (Passion of the Christ, Sin City). Debney will be performing an exclusive arrangement from his award winning soundtrack Lair. John worked with creators Tommy Tallarico and Jack Wall to create this very special and unique segment. Other new arrangements to the GDC performance include Halo 3, BioShock, Mass Effect, StarCraft II, Chrono Cross, OutRun and other surprises including special guests from Japan.
Over 30 top game composers, designers and talent from around the world will take part! in the Post Show Meet & Greet which is open and FREE to all ticke t holders. Highlights include Halo composer Marty O'Donnell, Warcraft composers Russell Brower and Jason Hayes, game composing legends Chris Huelsbeck & Inon Zur, BioShock composer Garry Schyman and many more. Honored on stage will be special guest Ralph Baer (inventor of the video game) who will also be appearring in the Post-Show Meet & Greet.
The popular Pre-Show Festival includes various game competitions which include Space Invaders on a customized Dream Authentics arcade cabinet. Other Pre-Show Festivities include an acoustic lobby performance by Jonathan Mann (creator of the Mario Opera) performing his most popular Nintendo folk songs and a costume contest where audience members will come dressed as their favorite video game characters. Finalists to be judged on stage by the audience. Partnering with Video ! Games Live to help promote the show is comic book pop-culture convention WonderCon and cutting-edge educational facility Expressions College for Digital Arts.
