Anime Selects to Host Interactive Shows at Anime Expo
Featuring Cosplay Legend, Man-Faye, and
Japanese Action Comic Punk Rockers, PEELANDER-Z
Comcast's Anime Selects ON DEMAND network will escalate its presence at Anime Expo this year with a killer lineup of special events at their studios on the convention floor. The annual extravaganza for fans of Japanese-style animation and its print sibling, manga, Anime Expo celebrates its 15th anniversary at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim California, July 1-4.
In a historic coup, Anime Selects has negotiated exclusive access to the controversial and popular cosplay cult figure, Man-Faye, who will host several of the network's events during the week and act as on-air correspondent for the coverage of AX2006. Cosplay, short for costume play, is a popular tradition among fans who don the elaborate and fantastical costumes of their favorite anime characters, and conventions always have a big contingent of attendees in full regalia.
Anime Selects also snagged PEELANDER-Z, the Japanese “Action Comic Punk” band “from the Z area of Planet Peelander.” The group is touring to promote their latest release, “Happee Mania,” and their notoriously insane live antics are a huge draw at anime events.
Convention goers will have lots of other cool opportunities courtesy of Anime Selects, including a chance to try anime voiceover acting, meet their true Otaku soul mate, prove their supremacy at Dance Dance Revolution, and show off their chops at Amateur Comedy and Karaoke Open Mics.
