Urban Vision Launches Asian Film Line
URBAN VISION ENTERTAINMENT PRESENTS "ASIAVISION"
In Spring 2006, Asian film will have a new look. From Urban Vision Entertainment comes AsiaVision, a brand new line of Asian live-action movies that will be distributed theatrically and direct to video.
AsiaVision will receive its big launch in Spring 2006 with a limited theatrical run of the hit Japanese blockbuster "AZUMI", which will tour in major cities across the United States. "AZUMI" is based on the comics of Yū Koyama, which has sold more than 8 million copies. The film grossed approximately $7.5 million USD and inspired a sequel, "AZUMI 2: DEATH OR LOVE", which will also be released by AsiaVision. A DVD release of "AZUMI" is planned for 2006.
"AZUMI" tells the story of a female assassin, trained from childhood among a group of youths with a single mission: to exterminate three rebel warlords and avert civil war. As unparalleled killers, the group's first task is to kill each other, and only the strongest will go on.
AsiaVision's inaugural DVD release arrives March 7, 2006 with "CURSE, DEATH & SPIRIT", a collection of three short horror stories directed by Hideo Nakata director of Ringu, The Ring 2). Originally released to Japanese television, "CURSE, DEATH & SPIRIT" explores supernatural possibilities in familiar settingsthe city, nature, and even one's home. This early work became the foundation for Nakata's later works of terror for which he is famous.
Also on the slate for DVD release are "KILL DEVIL," a slasher film centered around unwilling teens who are placed in an experiment involving a "murder gene" (street date April 4, 2006), and "KOKKURI," which recounts the fixation of Japanese teenagers with "Kokkuri-san," a spirit who can be called upon to provide an answer to any questionwith terrible consequences.
AsiaVision titles will be available online and at stores everywhere in 2006.
