LIVE SOCKETS PRESENTS “GO GO ANIME!” DOCUMENTARY
The Anime Phenomenon Explored Through the Fan's Experience
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – (June 17, 2004) – Live Sockets Entertainment presents “Go Go Anime!,” the first documentary to explore the fans' experiences in the world of Japanese animation. Representatives from Live Sockets Entertainment will be previewing the trailer and promoting the documentary at Anime Expo 2004 in Anaheim, CA on July 2-5, 2004.
With only underground beginnings in the U.S., Japanese animation, or “anime,” has exploded into a mainstream art form. Produced by Erick Louie and Thuy Dang, “Go Go Anime!” reaches deeper into this phenomenon by focusing on the fans of the genre whose love for anime have helped build its popularity here in the US.
The documentary begins with member interviews of Sailor Jamboree, an internationally renowned professional performance troupe and follows their performance process; tours the anime-infested house and outrageous collections of one loyal otaku; roams the events of the 2003 Anaheim Anime Expo; and showcases the art of three American manga artists. “Go Go Anime!” grabs the intermingled relationships of the performers, fans and artists while capturing some poignant thoughts from the anime devotees.
