The December issue of Coamix's Comic Zenon magazine revealed on October 25 that Takumi Yanai's Walhalla novel is getting a manga adaptation. The manga will premiere on the Comic Zenon website on November 12. Kakeru Yagami is drawing the manga, based on Yoshimoto's original character designs.
Hifumi Shobo published the first and only current novel volume in June 2018. The tactical fantasy story centers on the full-immersion VRMMO game "Walhalla," which is a tactics simulation game. The game features NPCs and creatures that feel real. Keito Tanida is a player and a member of the Hildol clan, and he is the sole person in the clan to reach the enemy camp in a battle against the Brunhildr clan. During the fight, a group called the Cyber Self Defense Forces appear in front of Keito, and reveal to him a shocking truth. The novel tells the story about a battle between the Cyber Self Defense Forces and artificial intelligence with the future of Japan at stake.
Sekai Project released the first volume of Satoru Sao, Takumi Yanai, and Daisuke Izuka's GATE (Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri) manga, but later canceled the release of the series. The manga adapts writer Yanai and illustrator Izuka's light novel series of the same name.
The first television anime adaptation of the light novel series premiered in 2015, and a second season premiered in 2016. Crunchyroll streamed both seasons. Sentai Filmworks released both seasons on home video.
