Kaiketsu Zorori Children's Books Gets 1st New TV Anime in 13 Years

Poplar Bunko announced on Thursday that Yutaka Hara's Kaiketsu Zorori children's book series is inspiring a new television anime in spring 2020. The anime will be the first television anime adaptation of the manga in 13 years since the second anime ended in 2007. Poplar Bunko posted an announcement video for the anime.
Hara began the book series in 1987 and published the 65th book (seen right) on Thursday. The books have inspired a 1993 film, a 2004-2005 television anime series, a second television anime from 2005 to 2007, and a second film in 2006. These earlier films were short works that were screened with other anime, but the series later inspired three previous feature-length films in 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2017.
Hara's books follow Zorori, a mischievous bandit fox who dreams of becoming the "King of Pranks." Zorori aims to "build my own castle and make a beautiful princess my wife," and he embarks on one misadventure after another with his two boar companions Ishishi and Noshishi.
