CAPCOM announced on Friday that it will remove its Puzzle Fighter smartphone game from app stores on July 1. CAPCOM will then shut down the game's servers on July 31.
CAPCOM stated that it gifted 10,000 in-game gems to users in the game on Friday. The company is also making characters Regina, Dr. Wily, and Ada Wong available for free for all players, as well as the Darminor and Uroboros Laboratory stages. In addition, the Classic Mode limited event will be available permanently until the servers shut down. CAPCOM will disable all in-app purchases after April 23, but players can still use in-game currency until July 31.
CAPCOM launched the app for iOS and Android devices worldwide in November 2017. CAPCOM's Vancouver division developed the game.
The game includes characters such as Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, and Blanka, (Street Fighter); X (Mega Man); Morrigan (Darkstalkers); Jill Valentine (Resident Evil); and Frank West and Chuck Greene (Dead Rising). The player can choose one main character and two assist characters that each have their own strengths and special abilities.
