TV anime premieres on January 7

The staff of the television anime adaptation of Hari Tokeino's Gakuen Babysitters manga revealed four more cast members on Saturday.

Satomi Akesaka as Maria Inomata

Toshiyuki Someya as Tomoya Yagi

Motohiro Ōta as Chūkichi Nezu

Kaede Hondo as Yuki Ushimaru

The anime will premiere in Japan on Tokyo MX at 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, and on Sun TV and BS11 at 12:00 a.m. and 12:30 a.m., respectively, on Wednesday, January 10. The anime will have an advance screening event for the first two episodes at TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku in Tokyo on January 4, and the main cast will appear for a talk show.

The cast includes:

Shūsei Morishita is directing the anime at animation studio Brains Base. Yuuko Kakihara (Chihayafuru 2, Orange) is handling series composition, Satoshi Motoyama (Aho Girl, Skip Beat!) is serving as sound director, and Mina Ōsawa (sub-character designer/chief animation director on Kiss Him, Not Me) is designing the characters. Ruka Kawada (Is the order a rabbit?, Kiss Him, Not Me) is composing the show's music.

Daisuke Ono is performing the opening theme song "Endless happy world" as his character Saikawa, and the unit Hyorotto Danshi — comprised of Kōtarō Nishiyama (Ryūichi) and Yūichirō Umehara (Hayato) — is performing the ending theme song "Oshiete yo" (Tell Me).

The manga centers on the brothers Ryūichi and Kotarō Kashima. Ryūichi is in high school and Kotarō is still a toddler. After their parents are killed in a plane crash, the two brothers find themselves living with the chairwoman of the Morinomiya Academy, who herself lost her son and daughter-in-law in the same accident. The chairwoman, however, has one stipulation for the brothers in order to live with her: Ryūichi has to work at the academy's daycare center as a babysitter.

The manga received a special chapter in the January 2018 issue of Hakusensha's LaLa DX magazine, which shipped on Saturday. Tokeino launched the series in Hakusensha's LaLa magazine in 2009, and Hakusensha published the 15th compiled volume on October 5. A drama CD featuring the cast of the anime will ship with the 16th manga volume on January 4.

The 17th compiled volume of the manga will receive a special edition in collaboration with Sanrio. The teaser image shows the characters in costumes of various popular Sanrio characters, including Midori as Kuromi, Kirin as My Melody, Kotarō as Cinnamoroll, Takuma as Keroppi, Kazuma as Tuxedo Sam, and Taka as Pompompurin. The 17th volume will ship on March 5.
