Akiko Higashimura Continues Tarare-Bar Bonus Manga After Tokyo Tarareba Girls' Finale

This year's October issue of Kodansha's Kiss magazine announced on Friday that Akiko Higashimura will revive her Tokyo Tarareba Girls spinoff manga Tarare-Bar beginning in the December issue on October 25. The manga, which previously ran as a bonus with compiled volumes of Tokyo Tarareba Girls beginning with the third volume, features the mascot characters Tara and Reba running a bar and giving advice in response to reader-submitted questions. The magazine notes that the editorial department has continued to receive letters asking for advice.
In the original manga, Tara and Reba are the talking codfish milt and liver characters from the protagonist's fantasies.
The same issue of Kiss also published the final chapter of Higashimura's Princess Jellyfish manga.
Higashimura launched Tokyo Tarareba Girls in Kiss in March 2014 and ended it on April 25. Kodansha published the ninth compiled book volume on July 13. The series is nominated for "Best General Manga" at this year's 41st Annual Kodansha Manga Awards, and it was nominated in the same category last year. The manga ranked #11 on the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! list of best manga for female readers in 2017, and it ranked #2 on the list in 2016. Da Vinci magazine ranked the series #19 on its "Book of the Year" list last year. Kodansha Comics is releasing the manga digitally in English.
The manga series inspired a live-action television series that premiered on January 18 and ended on March 22.
