Jō Aoto and Kizuku Watanabe began the Koro-sensei Q! (Koro Teacher Quest!) manga, which is a spinoff of Yūsei Matsui's Assassination Classroom manga, in Shueisha's Saikyō Jump magazine in October 2015. The first 22-episode television anime series based on the Assassination Classroom manga premiered in Japan in January 2015, and the second season premiered in January 2016 and ended in July. The manga ended in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump in March.
The original manga also inspired two live-action films, the second of which premiered in Japan on March 25.
