The official website for the anime project of Kōhei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia manga began streaming a promotional video for the manga's Jump Special Anime Festa event anime on Sunday. The video features the anime's unknown villain.
The website also revealed a key visual for the anime.
The anime debuted at the Jump Special Anime Festa event on November 27, and will ship on DVD with a limited edition of the 13th volume of Horikoshi's original manga on April 4. The edition will also come with a 50-page booklet featuring Horikoshi's original storyboard for the anime, and original cards for the Boku no Hero Academia Gekitotsu! Hero Battle and Boku no Hero Academia Tag Card Game games.
Horikoshi wrote the episode's original story, which links the first season of the anime with the upcoming second season.
The anime's first season of 13 episodes premiered on the MBS /TBS channel on April 3. Funimation streamed the series in Japanese with English subtitles in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Ireland as it aired in Japan. The company also streamed a broadcast dub.
Horikoshi launched the superhero manga series in Weekly Shonen Jump in July 2014, and Shueisha published the 11th compiled volume in Japan on November 4. Viz Media is publishing the manga digitally in its Weekly Shonen Jump magazine and in print. The company released the manga's sixth compiled volume in English on November 1.
