The remake also includes enhanced fighting gameplay. Additionally, the game also includes a new "Majima Everywhere" system, where Goro Majima will show up in the game at "at the most inopportune of times."
The game shipped in Japan on January 21 for the PS3 and the PS4.
Sega will release the game in North America, and Deep Silver is releasing the game in Europe. Both companies will release the game in a digital and physical format in summer 2017.
Yakuza 6: The Song of Life is the first mainline release in the franchise that will keep the subtitle in the English title of the game. Sega will release the game in the West in early 2018.
Sega had announced in March that it will release the Yakuza 0 (Ryū ga Gotoku 0: Chikai no Basho) prequel game in North America and Europe on the PS4 in early 2017. Sega released Yakuza 5 in the West with all the original Japanese DLC in December 2015.
Yakuza 6: The Song of Life is slated to ship in Japan on the PlayStation 4 on December 8. The game is inspiring an online live-action adaptation with a completely new story that will premiere on January 11.
