Ice Blade's Takahashi to Begin Boxing Manga
posted on by Karen Ressler
Manga artist Tsutomu Takahashi announced on his blog on Tuesday that he has a new series in the works about boxing.
Takahashi stated that he wanted to start a series about boxing during Hozumi Hasegawa's career. Hasegawa is an active Japanese professional boxer.
Kodansha's Afternoon magazine will unveil the title and the logo on June 25. The series was first teased in Kodansha's Good! Afternoon magazine in 2011, before the magazine switched from bimonthly to monthly publication.
Tokyopop published Takahashi's Jiraishin detective action manga, under the name Ice Blade, as one of the company's first titles in North America. Takahashi serialized a sequel called Jiraishin diablo before wrapping it in Good! Afternoon magazine in 2011. His Skyhigh manga was adapted into a live-action film, which Media Blasters released under its Tokyo Shock label in 2005.
Takahashi launched the supernatural manga Hito Hitori Futari in 2011 and ended the series in August. He launched the manga Zankyō in Shogakukan's Big Comic Superior earlier this month.
Update: Good! Afternoon history corected. Thanks, il capitano.
