Kuroko's Basketball Dōjinshi Event Held by Comiket Committee
posted on by Karen Ressler
The Comic Market (Comiket) Preparations Committee announced in a press release on Friday that it will host a "Kuroket" special event on March 29, 2015 dedicated to Kuroko's Basketball dōjinshi. The committee has previously run general, multi-franchise events, and other groups run Kuroko's Basketball-only events, but this is Comic Market Committee's first event solely for one franchise.
The decision to hold the event stems from the Committee's earlier barring of Kuroko's Basketball circles, dōjinshi, and goods from Comiket 83 in December 2012 while locations linked to Kuroko's Basketball creator Tadatoshi Fujimaki were receiving threatening letters with liquids and powders. Comiket lost more than an estimated 10 million yen (about US$117,900) refunding entry fees for Kuroko's Basketball circles and stepping-up security. The suspect in the case was arrested in December 2013.
"Kuroket" will be held with collaboration from the Akaboo Agency and Studio You as part of the March 28-29, 2015 "Comiket Special 6 ~Otaku Summit 2015~" event. The spring event is held once every five years.
Comiket is the world's largest dōjinshi event and is typically held in August and December in Tokyo for fans to share their creative works, particularly dōjinshi, with like-minded individuals.
