Namco Bandai Games develops game that lets players experience the story of Haikyu!! with new twists
This year's 18th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is announcing on Monday that a game set in the world of the Haikyu!! volleyball anime has been green-lit. Namco Bandai Games will develop the Nintendo 3DS game, and the game will be released in Japan sometime this year. The magazine tells readers that more details will be unveiled in the future.
The game will allow players to experience the world of Haikyu!! anime in two ways: the Adventure Mode and the Game Mode. In the Adventure Mode, depending on the character the player chooses to be the main character, the story may differ from the original manga and anime, as the game will include new plot points.
In Game Mode, the player will battle against their in-game rivals with the character they have powered-up through choosing a training menu. The strategies and in-game drama from the source material will also be included during matches.
Production I.G's anime adaptation of Haruichi Furudate's Haikyu!! volleyball manga will premiere on April 6. Sentai Filmworks has licensed the series for North American digital and home video release.
