Yasumi Matsuno Not Directing Unsung Heroes Game
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Final Fantasy Tactics director and Final Fantasy XII creator Yasumi Matsuno clarified on Twitter that he is not directing Playdek's Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians tactical role-playing game. Matsuno presented the game proposal for Playdek and will be involved in its overall development.
Matusno originally wrote, "Just in case anyone's confused, my involvement with Unsung Story is limited to the original game proposal, world design, and story. I'm not directing Unsung Story, I won't be involved with the nuts & bolts, and the game design may change from my original proposal," but added the next day, "Just so there's no confusion: I won't be doing the day-to-day directing, but I will be involved throughout development of Unsung Story. I am the visionary of the game, from mechanics to story. Playdek is realizing this vision with me."
The project is looking to raise US$600,000 by February 14 and as of press time has raised US$354,461.
Famed video game composer Hitoshi Sakamoto (Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy XII) will compose the soundtrack for the game if it meets its stretch goal of US$1.3 million. Additionally, translators Alexander O. Smith and Joseph Reeder, who have both frequently worked with Matsuno in the past, will join the project if the project reaches a stretch goal of US$900,000. Playdek will make the game available on the PS Vita and Nintendo 3DS systems if the campaign meets stretch goals of US$1.8 million and US$2.8 million, respectively.
