Square Enix Japan released a teaser trailer for the mobile role-playing game Final Fantasy Agito on Wednesday. The smartphone game takes place in the world of Final Fantasy Type-0 where players control an Agito candidate foretold to save the world. Players can aim to become an Agito by completing combat missions and deepening their friendships by interacting with NPCs. The fate of the world is reliant on the game's "decision" system where votes of players affect the world's history.
In the game, players will be able to design their own characters. Players will be able to choose their characters' face, skin color, hair style and color, and personality. The basic game will be free, and players can purchase items within the game.
Square Enix trademarked "Final Fantasy Agito" in Japan in April. In Square Enix's Final Fantasy Type-0 PlayStation Portable game, Agito are prophesied saviors said to appear during a calamity. The characters in the game's Class Zero are thought to be Agito. Final Fantasy Agito XIII was also the original title of the game.
Square Enix released Final Fantasy Type-0 in Japan in October 2011. The game has not been released in North America.
Square Enix plans to release Final Fantasy Agito for iOS and Android phones this winter. A stage event for the game will be held at the Tokyo Game Show on September 30.
