Monster Hunter 4 to Add Super Mario & Zelda DLC
posted on by Egan Loo
CAPCOM announced during its live Monster Hunter 4 Direct presentation on Sunday that players can get Super Mario and Legend of Zelda collaborative DLC for the game.
Felyne (Otomo-Airū) characters can get costumes in the motif of Mario and Luigi. They can also be equipped with hammers reminiscent of those from Donkey Kong. These DLC will be available through a specific collaborative quest that will first be distributed via the 7Spot WiFi service at 7-Eleven convenience stores throughout Japan. They will later be available online.
In addition, the player characters themselves can get costumes and Master Swords inspired by Link from the Zelda franchise. The presentation also teased scenes of the characters using Link's Hylian shield, bow, boomerang, and even musical instrument of choice. More information about how to obtain these DLC will be available on the game's official website and elsewhere later.
The game will ship in Japan next Saturday for 5,990 yen (about US$60). Special Packs with one of two limited-edition Nintendo 3DS XL variants will also be available for 26,000 yen (US$265).
Monster Hunter 4 was directed by Kaname Fujioka and produced by Ryozo Tsujimoto of the previous Monster Hunter games. Gameplay will support up to four players. Manga creator Hiro Mashima (Fairy Tail) designed original full-body outfits as well as a weapon for the game. Nintendo initially announced that the game would be released in March, but it has been delayed until its September release date.
