The anime streaming service Daisuki announced at its panel at Otakon on Saturday that it will stream Shinichiro Watanabe and Sunrise's Cowboy Bebop television anime series. Funimation had announced at its panel earlier in the day that it had licensed the series and plans to release the series for the first time digitally and on Blu-ray Disc. Funimation plans to release the series on home video in 2014. Bandai Entertainment previously held the license to the series. The series originally aired in Japan in 1998-1999.
Sunrise producer Masayuki Ozaki noted at the Daisuki panel that he hopes that Cowboy Bebop will be available on Daisuki just before Funimation re-releases the series on home video in 2014.
Daisuki launched in May and is also streaming Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Lupin the 3rd, The Prince of Tennis, Sword Art Online, Mobile Suit Z Gundam, Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ, Mobile Suit Gundam Seed, Gundam UC, Dragon Ball Z, and One Piece. The site is also streaming Monogatari Series Second Season, Nekomonogatari (Black), Nisemonogatari, and Bakemonogatari this summer.
