posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Game developer Bandai Namco Games will open a studio of about 30 employees in Vancouver, British Columbia in June. The studio will run out of the Centre for Digital Media, a part of the Great Northern Way college campus.
Hajime Nakatani, Namco Bandai Games CEO, said, “British Columbia has demonstrated a deep understanding of the digital media and game industries, especially in Vancouver, which has a long history as a pioneer in game development.”
The studio will start with its sights set on online social games for the North American and European markets. With taxpayer support, the company may open a second studio in Eastern Canada as well. A yet unnamed Bandai Namco Studio is also opening in Singapore in June.
Tecmo KOEI operated a studio in Toronto but closed its doors last month.
