Cookin' Idol Ai! Mai! Main! Replaced With Cooking Sentai Show
posted on by Egan Loo
After a four-year run, the popular children's cooking show Cookin' Idol Ai! Mai! Main! is ending on NHK's E-tele channel in March. In the program's anime segments that Studio DEEN produced, children can learn to cook with the heroine Main as she demonstrates various dishes (with some cooking fairies). The live-action segment has Main's voice actress, Haruka Fukuhara, taking on the challenge of cooking the actual dishes.
The weekday series of 10-minute shorts premiered in March of 2009 with the following cast:
- Haruka Fukuhara as Main Hiiragi
- Akiko Kobayashi as Misanga
- Rei Sakuma as Mieko Hiiragi (Main's mother)
- Toshihiko Seki as Osamu Hiiragi (Main's father)
- Chisa Yokoyama as Yuria
- Senka Deno as Michika
- Miyu Irino as Shin Yasuno
Starting on April 1, the new program Susume! Kitchen Sentai Cookrun will take over the current timeslot of Cookin' Idol Ai! Mai! Main! Three siblings named Ringo (Japanese for "apple"), Seiji ("sage"), and Kumin ("cumin") received various cooking skills from "space super chefs," and these three grade schoolers team up as "Kitchen Sentai Cookrun" to fight the evil army "Dark Eaters."
