Amazon Kindle E-Book Reader Heading to Japan 'Soon'
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Amazon.co.jp, the Japanese arm of the online retailer Amazon.com, updated its website to confirm that the Kindle e-book reader is "coming soon" to Japan. Amazon.co.jp has not revealed which Kindle model, cost, and services will be available, but people can receive an email notification when sales begin.
Amazon began full-fledged discussions with Japanese publishers last year to establish content for the Kindle release. The Kadokawa Group — the parent company of Kadokawa Shoten, ASCII Media Works, Enterbrain, Kadokawa Gakugei Shuppan, Fujimi Shobo, and Media Factory — signed an agreement in March to distribute content to Amazon for Kindle devices.
Amazon's Kindle e-book reader launched in the United States in 2007 and has since upgraded with the Kindle DX, Kindle Touch, and most recently the Kindle Fire last November.
