Manga has tweeted a photo of a poster, reproduced right, for the upcoming release of Makoto Shinkai's Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below (Hoshi o Ou Kodomo). Displayed at the current MCM Expo convention at London's Excel centre, the poster gives the film a new English title, Journey to Agartha. (Below the main title, there is also a subtitle, Children Who Chase Lost Voices). On the poster, the film is said to be, "Coming Winter 2012." It had been previously confirmed for release on U.K. Blu-ray and DVD, and Shinkai will present a screening in Dublin on July 2.
In the film, Agartha is an underground world discovered by Asuna, a young Japanese girl who embarks on an epic journey through Agartha. Shinkai previously created Voices of a Distant Star, The Place Promised in Our Early Days, and 5 Centimeters Per Second. Takayo Nishimura (5 Centimeters Per Second, Before Green Gables) designed the characters and oversaw the animation process. Takumi Tanji (5 Centimeters Per Second, The Place Promised in Our Early Days) directed the art, and musical composer Tenmon (5 Centimeters Per Second, The Place Promised in Our Early Days, Voices of a Distant Star) collaborated with Shinkai again on this project.
