Anime Expo to Host 3 From High School of the Dead Crew

Anime Expo announced in a press release on Tuesday that Madhouse Studio creators Tetsuro Araki, Masayoshi Tanaka, and Kentaro Hashimoto will all be in attendance as guests of honor during the July 1-4 event in Los Angeles.
Araki originally started his career as the storyboard artist for Di Gi Charat Nyo and the Galaxy Angel series before directing titles like Death Note and Highschool of the Dead. Araki is slated to direct Guilty Crown, an action anime series to debut in October.
This will be Araki's second AX appearance since he first attended the convention in 2007.
Tanaka has spent most of his career working as an animator for multiple projects such as Gurren Lagann, School Rumble and X. Like Araki, Tanaka contributed work on Highschool of the Dead as the chief animation director and character designer. He is also currently working on the slice-of-life anime anohana at A-1 Pictures.
Hashimoto rounds out the group with as the animation producer for Highschool of the Dead. He is currently working on the comedy anime A-Channel.
The trio will attend a July 2 screening of Highschool of the Dead and will host a creator's panel.
The three join previously announced guests of honor Nitroplus President Takaki Kosaka, voice actor Toshio Furukawa, the production team for the Last Exile -Fam, The Silver Wing- (Last Exile: Ginyoku no Fam), voice actor Toshiyuki Morikawa, director Seiji Mizushima, J-Pop band NIRGILIS, Vocaloid songwriter Onyx Kobayashi, ASCII Weekly Magazine Chief Executive Editor Toshihiro Fukuoka, J-pop dance group Danceroid, Crypton CEO Hiroyuki Itōh, Crypton producer Wataru Sasaki, Idea Factory's Kenta Sugano and Katsuyuki Hirano, singer Maon Kurosaki, manga creator Izumi Matsumoto, comic creator Fred Gallagher, virtual pop idol Hatsune Miku, Japanese pop trio Kalafina, president of Nippon Ichi Software Sohei Niikawa, television host/blogger Danny Choo, voice actor Vic Mignogna and Japanese voice actress and singer Miyuki Sawashiro.
In contrast, the Anaheim convention AM2, to be held the same weekend as Anime Expo, has previously announced Madhouse Studio founder Masao Maruyama and Black Lagoon director Sunao Katabuchi as guests of honor.
