Del Rey's CLAMP in America Book Cancelled
posted on by Gia Manry
ANN has confirmed with a source involved in the project that Shaenon K. Garrity's book CLAMP in America, a volume which was intended to cover the history of the popular four-member manga creation team CLAMP and their influence throughout the world, has been cancelled. According to the source, the rights have most likely reverted to Pyrotechnist, which serves as CLAMP's licensor in Japan.
Del Rey Manga originally announced at Comic-Con International in San Diego in 2008 that it would release the retrospective book. This past October, the new American arm of the Japanese publisher Kodansha, Kodansha USA, took over its past licenses from Del Rey. Kodansha and Del Rey have not responded to ANN's request for comment on the status of the book. ANN also contacted Dark Horse Comics, which is currently re-releasing CLAMP titles such as Chobits and Cardcaptor Sakura, but did not receive a response at press time.
