Company says it will unveil new properties, programs, partnerships
The North American anime and manga distributor Viz Media announced on Wednesday that it will celebrate its own 25th anniversary on July 7 of this year. Although the company did not reveal specific details of the celebration in its press release, it did indicate that the company will be "unveiling new properties, marketing programs, and distribution partnerships" "later this year."
Seiji Horibuchi founded Viz LLC in 1986 with capital provided by Japanese publisher Shogakukan. In 2002, Japanese publisher Shueisha bought an equity interest in Viz, which remains co-owned by the two Japanese publishers to this day. In 2005 Viz merged with Shogakukan's Sho-Pro Entertainment and became Viz Media, LLC.
