posted on by Egan Loo
The Japanese publisher ASCII Media Works launched Dengeki Comic Japan, its online comic magazine, on Friday, and it confirmed its plans to produce English and Chinese editions of the magazine.
The first issue and an earlier preview issue of Dengeki Comic Japan are available for free in Japan via the Voyager Store and Zasshi Online commerce sites. There are different versions for personal computers, Apple's iPhone and iPad devices, and mobile phones running the Android operating system. Future issues will go online on the 25th of every month for 115 yen (about US$1.40).
Contemporary artist Takashi Murakami (Superflat Monogram, Kaikai & Kiki) and illustrator mebae (Sugar Dark: Umerareta Yami to Shōjo illustrator, Black Rock Shooter animator, Cencoroll contributor) collaborated on the first issue's front cover; the two creators had previously worked together on the "Six Hearts Princess" anime for Murakami's Versailles exhibition in France this year. The first issue contains 25 new titles from 24 creators such as The 3-Mei-sama: Shinsō Kaiten-Hen by Maco-Ching Ishihara (The Three Young-Men in Midnight) and Insomnia by Masaya Hokazono (Emerging, Girl Friend, Inugami).
