This is interesting news.
Previous such attempts have lost any worth to me from either: A). Being a lot of hipster indie comics ("the sort of stuff that will have foreign appeal"), instead of the stuff I'd personally want to read (like from Dengeki G's or Dengeki Daioh). B). Being tied with a DRM scheme. I'm used to DRM-free paper books, and I'll accept nothing less than DRM-free digital books. But ASCII Media Works prints a lot of comics I like, or want to read, under it's various Dengeki magazines. So I'll stay interested for now. Btw, the Dengeki Comic Japan website has what I believe is a list of all the magazine's titles: http://comicjapan.dengeki.com/ |

i dont read any of these series, but 115 yen is a very reasonable price point, and if they introduce a monthly english version, i will buy purely to support this industry, and to show other manga publishers that magazines like Jump can also make money online.

That's awesome.
I like to see more of these manga magazine coming to US. I expect Square Enix to bring their monthly Gangan to US and maybe Yen Press publish for them, hell maybe Yen Press can replace Yen Plus or publish Monthly Gangan and Yen Press parallel at the same time. I don't want Shonen Jump to be the dominant manga magazine in America, give other a chance. |

That's because they're all brand-new series... |

Even if its $3 per issue with a 33% discount for a $24 annual subscription, that'd be the first of these online manga at a really interesting price point. I could see buying it for one or two series and then getting drawn into others because they came with the subscription anyway.
Of course, whether they have that one or two series that I want in the first place is the open question, but its a lot more interesting than the almost-hardcopy-price approach. |

Has there been any word yet as to when the first issue will be available in English?
