Gosick Mystery Novels Have Anime in the Works

Tokyopop prints stories of deductive girl, boy sidekick who solve mysteries in 1924

The official website of the Japanese publisher Kadokawa Shoten has revealed that an anime adaptation of Kazuki Sakuraba's Gosick mystery novel series is in the works. The novels are set in 1924 in the small Alpine country of Sauville, where Kazuya Kujo studies abroad at the Saint Marguerite Academy. Kazuya joins forces with Victorique, a girl with deductive powers that rival Sherlock Holmes', to solve mysteries.

After a delay in 2008, Tokyopop released the second volume of Gosick in North America this month. Hinata Takeda (La croisée dans un labyrinthe étranger, Yaeka no Karte) illustrates the six main novel volumes of Gosick and the three "Gosicks" short-story collections. Sakuya Amano has been drawing the manga version in Fujimi Shobo's Monthly Dragon Age magazine since 2007.
