Fire Breaks Out at Building of Da Capo Developer Circus (Updated)
posted on by Egan Loo
Tokyo Sangyō Shimbunsha's Gadget Tsūshin website reports that a fire broke out on Sunday at the offices of Circus, the company behind Da Capo and other popular bishōjo game franchises. The website was able to confirm the fire with the local fire station in Hasuda City northwest of Tokyo. While the fire station emphasized that it cannot confirm the full extent of the damage or the cause of the fire since it just started the on-site inspection, it acknowledged that the building that housed the offices of Circus was "half damaged."
Fans have been inquiring on the status of Circus on its official website and in other forums, but Circus has yet to make an official statement. Circus just made a string of new announcements during its 10th anniversary event on November 1, including an all-new D.C. ~Da Capo~ anime. Circus also worked on Saishū Shiken Kujira, Valkyrie Complex, and Wet Summer Days.

Update: More background information added.
Update: The webmaster of Circus reports that the staff was unharmed and that business is unaffected. (Sunday and Monday were work holidays in Japan.) An official notice is forthcoming. EvoSpace, a translator for the game distributor MangaGamer, reports that the fire affected "an unmanned store house, completely separate from their offices."
