Funimation Adds Sega's Sands of Destruction Anime (Updated)

The North American anime distributor Funimation has announced that it has acquired the first season of the Sands of Destruction anime series (also known as World Destruction: Sekai Bokumetsu no Rokunin in Japan) from Sega of America. The 13-episode anime series ties into the story of the Sands of Destruction (World Destruction) role-playing game, which Sega will release for the Nintendo DS in Spring of 2010.

Both projects revolve around a boy named Kyrie who secretly possesses the power to destroy the world. While one party seeks to save the world, another party aims to eradicate the world and start anew, and it forces Kirie to join — despite being unaware of his power. Production I.G animated the television series, which premiered in Japan last July. Funimation will release the first season in Spring of 2010.

Funimation has also announced the English voice cast for its release of El Cazador de la Bruja:
