Production I.G Finishes New 7-Minute Kill Bill Sequence

posted on by Egan Loo

Director Quentin Tarantino told The Quentin Tarantino Archives website that the Japanese anime studio Production I.G has produced the new seven-minute sequence he had written for an expanded version of his Kill Bill film. According Tarantino's statement on the third-party site, the director chose to add this sequence to the new Kill Bill edition because his crew "wouldn't even have to shoot! So we got together with Production I.G and did it, and it's really cool." The new sequence is in Kill Bill Chapter 3: The Origin of O-Ren, the chapter which Production I.G had already animated for the film's original theatrical release in 2003.

Tarantino said at Comic-Con International 2006 that he wanted to make an anime origin film about the titular Bill character and his mentors, as well as another anime prequel about The Bride heroine. However, actress Uma Thurman told the MTV Movies Blog last April that Tarantino had instead written an anime sequence that will serve as the intermission between the two halves of the film in the planned re-release. She added that the new anime sequence has nothing to do with her or her Bride character.
