Ghibli's Takahata, Goro Miyazaki Developing New Works
posted on by Egan Loo
During the Friday press conference that announced Koji Hoshino as Studio Ghibli's new president, the company revealed that "directors [Isao] Takahata and Goro Miyazaki are both developing works" for release after Hayao Miyazaki's Gake no Ue no Ponyo (Ponyo on a Cliff) opens this summer. Takahata (pictured right) co-founded the studio with Hayao Miyazaki (Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away) in 1985 and directed Grave of the Fireflies, Only Yesterday, and Pom Poko. Goro Miyazaki (pictured far right), Hayao Miyazaki's son, served as the Ghibli Museum's first curator and directed Tales from Earthsea. Variety Japan reported last month that Ponyo's opening in Japan is planned for the middle of July.
