Barefoot Gen Artist to Pen Drenched by Black Rain Film
posted on by Egan Loo
The Mainichi Daily News has published an English-translated interview with Barefoot Gen creator Keiji Nakazawa. In addition to describing how the 68-year-old artist coped with the aftermath of Hiroshima's atomic bombing on his family, the interview notes that he is writing the treatment for a new movie adaptation of his Kuroi Ame ni Utarete (Drenched by Black Rain) manga. He created this post-bombing story in 1966 after the funeral of his radiation-stricken mother and before his most influential work, Barefoot Gen. It was made into an earlier movie in 1984.
