No Anime Nominated for Oscars

The nominations for the 77th annual Academy Awards were announced today, no anime was nominated.
The nominees for best animated feature film of the year are:
The nominees for best animated short film are:
- “The Incredibles” ( Buena Vista ), Brad Bird;
- “Shark Tale” (DreamWorks), Bill Damaschka;
- “Shrek 2” (DreamWorks), Andrew Adamson.
The nominees for best animated short film are:
- “Birthday Boy” An Australian Film, TV and Radio School Production, Sejong Park and Andrew Gregory;
- “Gopher Broke” A Blur Studio Production, Jeff Fowler and Tim Miller;
- “Guard Dog” A Bill Plympton Production, Bill Plympton;
- “Lorenzo” A Walt Disney Pictures Production, Mike Gabriel and Baker Bloodworth;
- “Ryan” A Copper Heart Entertainment & National Film Board of Canada Production, Chris Landreth.
Production I.G's Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, the Korean animation Wonderful Days (Sky Blue) and The Legend of Buddha from India were all eligible but have not been nominated.
