Bandai America Cuts into Bandai's Profits

Bandai Co. of Japan, parent company of Bandai America, of which Bandai Entertainment is a subsidiary, reported its profits for the first half of 2004 this week. Dismal sales of Power Ranger toys and a weak retail environment contributed to a 2.68 billion yen loss in North America in the first half of 2004, compared to a 1.18 billion yen profit in the first half of 2003. Bandai Co.'s total profit fell 42 percent to 3.88 billion yen.
