Dragonball falls from top of Lycos search list

Lycos announced their top 100 searches of 2003 this week and after two straight years of being the top searched for item, Dragon Ball closes 2003 as the 3rd most searched for item of the year. Although it was 3rd overall for the year, it spent some weeks, including last week, out of the top 10 entirely.

In the 2003 list Kazaa and Britney Spears ranked higher than Dragon Ball. Also of note, Yu-Gi-Oh! ranked 22nd and Pokémon ranked 58th.

In the most searched for movies of 2003 Cowboy Bebop: The Movie ranked 19th and 5% of Matrix related terms were for The Animatrix (The Matrix was the most searched for movie).

Meanwhile, anime dominated the non-prime-time TV related searches taking 9 of the top 12 spots:
