No Ghost Just a Shell
posted on by Garry Berryhill
This dissection of the role of the character in commercial work is in San Francisco until March 16.
Until March 16, 2003, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is hosting an exhibition entitled "No Ghost, Just a Shell," which centers on multi-media representations and reimaginings by various artists of Annlee, a stock
manga character produced for advertising and other uses by Kworks, a Tokyo-based "character clearinghouse."
Additional information is available at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art's webpage
---
In addition, the exhibition and its creators, as well as Annlee herself,
are the subject of an article in the January 2003 issue of Art Forum.
Thanks again to Mikhail Koulikov.
