AX 2002: Anime Expo AMV Issues
posted on by Christopher Macdonald
Anime Music Video contest delayed due to technical glitch, shown Saturday morning and Sunday morning instead.
Friday Night's presentation of the Anime Music Video contest was cancelled due to technical difficulties. A significant number of contestants submitted their videos in an improper format and as a result the AMV staff was not able to properly project the videos without significantly harming the video quality.
The AMV staff wrestled with the issue for close to two hours while the fans waited impatiently outside, and then for close to another hour while the fans waited in their seats. More than two hours after the AMV contest was supposed to start the staff announced that the AMV contest would be delayed until 8am Saturday.
After several attempts to appease the crowd, which for the most part was extremely annoyed, the AX staff decided to show the AMVs on Saturday at 8am and the again on Sunday at 8am, making it possible for attendees to see the AMVs at the session that inconveniencd them the least. This solution was well received by the attendees.
