US - Japan Expo in two weeks
posted on
The 21st annual US-Japan Expo will tape place on the weekend of November 17th, 18th and 19th at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
The expo, which has been around since 1980, aims to promote cultural understanding and trade between Japan and the United States through the presentation of Japanese and American cultural and corporate exhibits. And of course, what Japanese cultural exposition would be complete without Anime?
Bandai will host a Gundam Wing Plaza, where there will be Gundam model kit workshops, a gaming area for the "Side Story 79" and new "Gundam Battle Assault" games, and screenings of Bandai titles! Nintendo will be showcasing Pikachu and the Pikachu car, along with the "Pokemon Gold & Silver" games! Pioneer will also be on hand to assist in the numerous door prizes that will be given out! The Mandarake anime merchandise chain is reported to be attending as well! Plus, the girls of Sailor Jamboree (http://www.sailorjamboree.com/) have promised to attend and are inviting anime fans to show up in costume, too!
The organizers seem to have lumped the Anime section as "for kids" but that shouldn't stop any die hard Anime fans.
Othe non-Anime related events that may interest readers include an demonstration by the famous "Iron Chef" Masaharu Morimoto as well as a martial arts demonstration, a special appearance by the popular Japanese band Hiroshima, and a variety of other events representing Japanese culture, both modern and traditional.
