The manga depicts a young Nakagawa being enchanted by the original Pokémon games. She was initially torn between Venusaur and Charizard on the Pokémon Green and Pokémon Red game covers, but ended up going with Squirtle as her starter. It also shows her memories of watching the anime and how she cried watching Pokémon: The First Movie. After the movie, she had a touching moment with her grandfather looking out at the night sky, which she still remembers to this day.
Nakagawa has guest starred in 12 consecutive Pokémon anime films, including last year's film, Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us. Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution, the 22nd film in the Pokémon franchise, will open in Japan on July 12. Nakagawa is also the host of Pokémon Sunday. She spoke with ANN about her love for the Pokémon franchise in an interview last year.
